GoDaddy Statement RE: @N Issue – GoDaddy

GoDaddy Statement RE: @N Issue – GoDaddy.

Above is the URL I was blanket emailed in response to my comments regarding the recent @N twitter / GoDaddy / PayPal fiasco.

They did not address a key comment for me: when the account owner information got changed, there was no notification to the original account owner.

I am leaving GoDaddy as soon as possible.

  1. Glad you’re leaving GoDaddy, they have been on most people’s “never ever” list since all the SOPA mess a few years back.

But, to argue your point, the original article mentions this:

Later in the day, I checked my email which uses my personal domain name (registered with GoDaddy) through Google Apps. I found the last message I had received was from GoDaddy with the subject “Account Settings Change Confirmation.” There was a good reason why that was the last one.

Seems like they did notify that a settings change occurred. Not that it helped him in this case, but they did notify.

    1. I don’t know about you, but I would like to think that in this case it should be a “Click This Link To Confirm” as opposed to “Hey just for your information…”

      1. I wholeheartedly agree!

But, your argument was that they didn’t notify at all 🙂 Someone has to keep you honest!

FWIW, I haven’t tested Namecheap on this at all, hopefully they’re better about it or willing to change.

        1. I do appreciate the correction. You’re technically correct, they did notify him.

My complaint should be amended to: they notified but did not ask permission, which is what they ‘had to do’ when he tried to get ownership back.
