Car Maintenance Logs

Well, I’ve had some people say they don’t believe that I do that full suite of checks twice a month, so I figured I kick that shit in the ass right now and just prove it to ya.

Here’s the maintenance/diagnostic log from 4/30/17.

  • Tires
    • Front
      • Passenger Side
        • Pressure: was 41.8PSI, dropped to 33.2 per spec.
        • Tread & Depth: New tires from March, tread was fine, assumed depth was as well.
      • Driver Side
        • Pressure was 38.5PSI, dropped to 33 per spec.
        • Tread & Depth: New tires from March, tread was fine, assumed depth was as well.
    • Rear
      • Passenger Side
        • Pressure: 33.4PSI
        • Tread & Depth: Tread appeared fine, depth was 4.75mm -> Summer Replacement Advised.
      • Driver Side
        • Pressure 33.8PSI
        • Tread & Depth: Tread appeared fine, depth was 4.65mm -> Summer Replacement Advised.
  • Lamps
    • Brakes: Checked out.
    • Turn Signals: Checked out.
    • Hi Beams: Checked out.
    • Lo Beams: Checked out.
    • Fog Lamps: Checked out.
    • Side Markers: Checked out.
    • Interior Lamps: Checked out.
    • Addendum: Hitch Lamps: Checked out.
  • Brakes
    • General: Used brake clean on front calipers/pads/rotors and rear drums/shoes.
    • Front
      • Passenger Side
        • Depth: 8mm -> Inspect again in May.
      • Driver Side
        • Depth: 8.15mm -> Inspect again in May.
    • Rear
      • Passenger Side
        • No discoloration or warping seen on drum or shoe.  Did not inspect shoe depth.  Ford advised replace 180k, at 145k now.
      • Driver Side
        • No discoloration or warping seen on drum or shoe.  Did not inspect shoe depth.  Ford advised replace 180k, at 145k now.
  • Fluids
    • Oil
      • Ran car 15 minutes, turned car off.  Inspected oil.  Found just above minimum fill line.  Added 1/2 Quart of oil.
    • Brake
      • Orange/Brownish color -> Recommend flush fill soon.
    • Transmission
      • Bright red, level was appropriate.
    • Coolant
      • Approximately 1/2 to 3/4 inch below max fill line in cold fill range.  Topped off with approximately 1 Cup of coolant.
    • Windshield Wiper
      • 1/2 – 3/4 full, recommend top off.
  • Battery
    • Voltage: 14.5 as determined by OBD.
    • No signs of discharge or discoloration at battery.
  • Wipers:
    • Front
      • Appear to be normal, replaced in December -> Replace in June/July.
    • Rear
      • Appears to be cracked/bent but still wipes, replaced in October -> Replace in May.
  • Horn:
    • Works!
  • Visual Inspection Notes
    • No pools of fluid noted under car.
    • LH Valve Cover cleaned, area between COP 1 and COP 2 shows sign of slight oil leak -> This is planned maintenance in June or July.
    • Rear seat headliner area & Sun roof -> Fabric cleaner and Fabric adhesive as there are signs of rain discoloration from leaving the roof open and oil prints from dirty hands.
    • Underside of vehicle shows minor signs of oil leaks consistent with notes from Ford and planned maintenance in June or July including: intake manifold gaskets, valve cover gaskets, oil pan gaskets.
    • Underside of vehicle shows major signs of exhaust issues consistent with notes from Ford and planned maintenance in July or August including: exhaust manifolds, Flex pipe, resonator, muffler, catalytic converter.
