So, we’re getting ready to deploy Windows 10 next year by preparing for it this year.

Well, everything sucks and is miserable while trying to do it with Altiris Deployment Services and Ghost, so I took it upon myself to work on alternatives. WDS here we come.

This is the start of the project, and it starts with testing it in the Homelab. Well, the first part of getting the whole process started is: setting up the Homelab, which I’ve never done before.

This is a recipe I found via Reddit.  The thread was here.  The actual recipe link is here.

I am posting it here so I don’t lose it, but so I can also amend some notes.  Specifically, I changed the amount of butter, and I also measured to the gram how much of a certain ingredient I used.  I prefer this to relatively meaningless quantities like “4-5 small potatoes” or “1/2 onion” which are basically subject to what size the ingredients are.  This is important for me because I use MyFitnessPal to log what I eat (yay weight-loss journey!).

Today I went to the NJ DMV (Never will I ever call you the MVC, you are the DMV, deal with it and the negative connotation that DMV implies; you deserve it) fully expecting to get my license renewed. It’s the first Tuesday in the month of June, it’s 4:45pm, they don’t close til 7:30pm — it’ll be fine.

How wrong I was.

Ugh. I woke up this morning, content to run a little late since I got to work half an hour early yesterday and stayed almost an hour and a half late (meaning I had nearly two hours to make up on). I took a nice long shower, I made a cup of coffee, and I strolled out of my apartment at 7:15 (normally 6:45). It was raining, but not too heavily. It was a nice morning. I thought to myself: It’s going to be a good day. I’m going to have a nice, relaxing drive in to work since I have no reason to rush. I’m going to get that project done at work. I’m going to be super productive. It’s going to be a good day.

I was so very, very wrong.

Ornery. That’s the only way to describe how I am feeling today. Ornery is a good word. If it’s not an SAT word I’d be disappointed.  Edit: I almost missed out an a glorious opportunity: I’d be ornery if ornery wasn’t an SAT word.  I don’t know if that actually works.  I think it does.  English is weird.  Whatever.  I’ve said it, I can’t un-say it.

Today’s (the weekly post for this week) is brought to you by Mike, the Ornery bugger. It’s going to be a bunch of things that have me REALLY annoyed at the moment. Not RAGE AGAINST THE WORLD annoyed, more: come on man, use your damn brain.  I tweeted out a few of these, but I realized I should just blog it out and fill my self-imposed (currently on-schedule) blog quota for the week (for those not keeping track: the plan was to do one blog post a week for the entire year).

On Reddit I found a great little recipe for Mini Steak and Ale Pies.  These looked delicious, and also seemed pretty simple to do.  That being said, I am a lazy, lazy man and didn’t want to sit over the stove to cook it all.  So I took the recipe and modified it so I could make it in my slow cooker overnight (minus the baking part, but the cooking of the steak and the braising afterwards were all done in the slow cooker to save myself from standing over the stove and watching it).

I have included the recipe, which I tweaked slightly, below.
